Description
Los Muertos BBQ was founded by Enrique "Rick" Muniz. Rick Muniz was born and raised in rural South Texas. Formerly a Texas DPS Trooper and DPS Special Agent, Rick honorably retired with the rank of Lieutenant in 2016, after nearly 30 years on the job serving the citizens of Texas, to pursue his dream of one day owning a small BBQ business.
The name "Los Muertos BBQ" follows the rich tradition of the Mexican holiday "The Day of the Dead" or "Dia De Los Muertos" in that we honor the memories of our culinary ancestors from different ethnic backgrounds that have impacted our diverse state through their cooking traditions, many of which have been handed down through the generations. We then take our name a little further and honor the memories of all the Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and First Responders that have died in the line of duty, as well as our Military Heroes that have given all so that we live in not just the greatest country in the world, but the greatest state in The Union.
Always knowing and respecting the company we are in when it comes to other BBQ establishments, along with the numerous gifted and talented Pit Masters within our Texas borders, our humble attempt is to infuse true Texas BBQ with scratch-made Mexican cuisine, as well as the other ethnic culinary influences that can be found scattered throughout Texas. Occasionally, we may even infuse our menu with a hint of rural South Texas ranch kitchen creations. With that said, we may not be the biggest... we may not be the baddest... but we will definitely give you the best damn BBQ shot that we can offer!!!
